Chocolate Caramel & Oatmeal Bar

Chocolate Caramel & Oatmeal Bar Recipe

If baking has oatmeal in it, that makes it healthy right?  Well that is how I am thinking of these delicious Chocolate Caramel & Oatmeal Bars from Kraft. Chocolate Caramel & Oatmeal Bar

If you love caramel and chocolate then this is the perfect treat for you.  This bar is made up of a layer of caramel, chocolate and pecans sandwiched between 2 layers of oatmeal giving this treat just the right amount of sweetness.

The Chocolate Caramel & Oatmeal Bar will take a bit longer to make then some recipes as it has 2 baking steps as part of the recipe, however we were still able to make a triple recipe in just over 1 hour.  Using a pastry blender to mix the butter into the dry ingredients makes this recipe much easier.  My sister got a good arm workout blending the oatmeal mixture together.Chocolate Caramel & Oatmeal Bar

Once the oatmeal mixture is ready to go you press half into a baking pan and bake for 10 minutes. Chocolate Caramel & Oatmeal Bar

Then layer the chocolate chips, pecans, and caramel mixture over top.  If you are like me and prefer walnuts, feel free to substitute those in instead.  Top with remaining oatmeal and bake until golden brownChocolate Caramel & Oatmeal Bar

Voila, you have a delectable dessert which keeps very well in the fridge and travels well too.  This would be a great recipe to make up for a baking exchange.  To find the complete list of ingredients and directions for Chocolate Caramel & Oatmeal Bars pop over to the Kraft Canada website.   While you are there take a moment to browse through some of the other mouth-watering dessert recipes.
