One of my favourite times of day is around 3:45, I have just picked up Monkey from school and we head home for snack time. A few calm moments before we have to get dinner ready, and pick up Little Bear from daycare. I love hearing about his day, talking with him to see what new discoveries he made that day and how he is learning about the world around him. One of our favourite after school snacks to share has quickly become Chocolate and Peanut Butter Snack Bites. These tasty and versatile snacks are easy to make and we always have the ingredients on hand.
Not only are the Chocolate and Peanut Butter Snack Bites delicious, but they are fun to make and you can get the kids involved as well. Nothing starts teaching cooking skills better than a little “hands on” time in the kitchen, and with all the variations of this recipe you can allow them to get creative and try adding in different ingredients (raisins with chopped almonds would be a great combo).
Here is what you need to make your own Chocolate and Peanut Butter Snack Bites:
Ingredients:
1 cup Large flaked rolled oats
1/2 cup Kraft Smooth Peanut Butter
1/4 cup Honey
Add ins:
1/2 cup Dry roasted peanuts, chopped
1/2 cup Chocolate chips
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients together and place the mixture in the fridge for 20 minutes.
Once chilled, roll into 1 inch balls and place on a parchment lined cookie sheet. The kids LOVE helping with this step. Keep your eye on them though, you might even catch someone with their hand in the peanut jar! Place the balls back into the fridge for 20 minutes and you are done! Store the Chocolate and Peanut Butter Snack Bites in a sealed container.
