Thomas The Train Party Decorations

When Thomas the Train rolled into our house earlier this month for Monkey’s birthday we made sure to have Train Party Decorations to complete the decor.  These easy table decorations were perfect for serving snacks and food in for the party inside and outside.

To create these Train Party Decorations I bought white plastic table cloths from the dollar store and used black permanent marker to draw on the tracks.  I printed out labels for each train “car” and attached them to red and blue poster board.  The wheels were also created out of poster board and I drew on the spokes with marker.  The train “cars” are aluminum food containers I bought at the dollar store as well.  I attached the labels and wheels to the cars with tape and used Thomas the Train Toys as the Engines.

The Snack Train was VERY popular with the kids!

The Produce Train and Cattle Cars completed our Thomas the Train Party Decorations:Thomas the Train Party decorations

I used the smallest size aluminum container for the snacks, medium for produce cars and large for the cattle cars.

I also printed out some homemade train decorations to add to the decor.  I found images of trains online and then printed them and mounted on bristol board.  To make the “refueling station” and “railroad crossing” signs I used my computer to create large font signs.  Then printed and mounted on black bristol board.

We also had “Chew-Chew” signs for the food area and “Chugga-Chugga” and “Diesel Fuel” for the beverage area.

I found plastic Thomas the Tank Engine cups at a local store which I labeled with the names of the children attending and then they got to take them home at the end of the party.

  1. Ok that is just brilliant! That is seriously the cutest Thomas the Train table setting I’ve ever seen! And you didn’t have to spend a ton of money on it! So cute! I bet the kids had a blast!

  2. Hello I am haveing a Thomas themed party soon I have been looking for the same sized thomas train for cupcakes. Please tell me where I can find the train you used for the veggie train. I love the idea!

    1. Hello Devon, I don’t remember where we got that train specifically, they were all toy trains we had around the house that I just used for the party. Maybe try Walmart or Target to see if they have something similar.
