Rustic Country Themed Bridal Shower Ideas

Bridal showers are a fun time to get friends and family together to celebrate a happy occasion.  Not only do you usually get to see people you don’t normally see, but you also have a chance to spoil the bride to be.  However, hosting a bridal shower can be a lot of work as well.  Here are some simple and easy ideas for a Rustic Country Themed Bridal Shower that wont break the bank, and won’t take hours to prepare either.  If you are hosting a bridal shower don’t forget to delegate tasks to other members of the bridal party and family members, this is a team effort and should not be all one person’s responsibility.  For this Rustic Country Themed Bridal Shower we had several people pitch in to make it happen and I think it came together beautifully!

Table Decorations – The colours we went with for this shower were blue and yellow.  The table was covered with brown craft paper for a rustic feel and then ribbons we added for a pop of colour.  Table cloth weights from the dollar store were used to anchor the ribbons in place (and they can be reused at your next picnic!).  We also picked up yellow and blue plaid plates and napkins to match.  The center pieces were metal buckets with sunflowers inside that could also be reused after the shower was finished, or sent home as prizes from the bridal shower games.

Bridal Shower Games – We did not go overboard with games for the shower.  We kept it simple with the clothes peg game, were if you said “wedding” then someone could steal your peg.  There was also a sign in book where we asked guests to leave some words of wisdom or advice for the Bride & Groom.  There was a guessing game were guests had to guess how many candies were in the jar.  And although not really a “game” it is VERY helpful for the bride if you ask guests to write their address on an envelop, these are given to the bride to send out the thank you notes from the party in.  The signs for all of the games were make to look like mason jars, and were printed on a home computer.

The Food – Keeping with the rustic and country theme of the shower we picked dishes that are homemade favourites and asked several people to pitch in by making (or buying) different dishes.  The buffet style feast included lasagna, two types of salad, buns, veggie tray and deviled eggs.

Beverages – To make beverage dispensing easy we used large drink dispensers so that we would not need to be refilling small pitchers multiple times during the shower.  We once again used the mason jar labels to label “The Groom’s Iced Tea”, “The Bride’s Punch” and Water.

The Cake – We decided to go with a homemade cake for this shower, and I think it turned out amazing!  To find out how to make this Engagement Ring Cake check out our other blog post.  The cupcakes make it easy to send home any leftovers, and adjust the number to the size of the shower you are having.

Bridal Shower Favour – Everyone who attended the shower went home with a beautiful plant for their garden.  While this favour idea might take a little bit of pre-planning to give the seeds time to grow, it wont break the bank as you pick up mason jars from thrift stores.
