Winter and hot chocolate, two things that go together hand in hand. As much as I love winter, I am always cold. Seriously from October to May my hands and feet turn into blocks of ice. Even my boys ask me now “Mommy why are your hands so cold?”. I wish I had a good explanation, but I don’t. However I do have a good solution for warming up my hands while holding a cup of hot chocolate. Doesn’t matter if I am working away at my day job or just came in from shoveling snow hot chocolate always hits the spot and warms me right up. This time I decided to kick it up a notch with this Double Chocolate Peppermint Hot Chocolate.
Because who doesn’t love peppermint and chocolate together??? It is a winning combination in my books. Double Chocolate Peppermint Hot Chocolate recipe
Ingredients
- 2-3 tbsp Hot Chocolate Mix
- 1/4 Cup Milk
- 3/4 Cup Boiling water
- 1/8 tsp Peppermint Extract
- Gay Lea Real Dark Chocolate Caramel Whipped Cream
- Crushed candy cane optional
Instructions
- Combine hot chocolate mix, milk and peppermint extract in a mug.
- Stir in boiling water until all of the hot chocolate mix is dissolved
- Top with Gay Lea Real Dark Chocolate Caramel Whipped Cream and crushed candy cane
- Enjoy!
The secret to making amazing hot chocolate is using milk, not just water when making it. Even swapping out a 1/4 of water for milk makes the hot chocolate a creamy delight to enjoy on a cold day.
