Niagara Falls Day Trip

Family and Budget Friendly Niagara Falls Hotel – Howard Johnson By The Falls Review

Recently I took my “little” pack on a family vacation to Niagara Falls – you know 3 kids under the age of 5… Always an adventure I’ll tell you.ย  For the first leg of our trip we had the chance to stay in a family suite at the Howard Johnson Hotel by the Falls. This hotel is a family friendly, and budget friendly place to stay, right close to all the action of Niagara Falls and Clifton Hill. So you can access it all, but have a peaceful place to hide out when you are too worn out from all the action.ย  cheap niagara falls canada hotels howard johnson by the falls review

The family suite offers ample space for a large group with 3 queen size beds.ย  When we first walked into our suite, there was a nice little foyer area with a closet, and space to come in and take off your shoes. It’s great for the family to all get in and out of the hall without having to wait while others are coming in. You can all file in!

With the hotel room divided into 2 sections separated by a door – one with 2 beds, and one with 1 bed – you are able to get the kids down for the night and then have some time to relax and watch TV without disrupting the sleeping children. ย I think we have all been “trapped” in a dark hotel with kids trying not to talk or make noise so they can sleep. No problem here! Just close the door, and go to the other room.ย  Both areas have a TV so there is no fighting over who gets to watch a show when you are having a little down time.ย  Take a look at our hotel room and the amenities of this hotel in our video review of the Howard Johnson by The Falls:

The suite also has a full bath, with a nice sized tub. It’s great to have that option with the kids, as you never know what you might encounter in day.ย  The main room also had a desk, a TV, and dresser, as well as some kitchen amenities: a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The mini fridge and microwave are very useful with kids!ย  Perfect for heating up left overs or for making a snack, and with a fridge I can bring them a few things for late nights or early mornings before we are ready to head out.cheap niagara falls canada hotels howard johnson by the falls review

We really enjoyed the fact that there was plenty of space for us all to move around (and even the boys to run a little). No one is tripping over each other, and if we needed a little space, we could find it.ย  With 2 tvs, and free wifi this gives a lot of choices on things to do, while in the room. But you won’t be in there the whole time, as there is tons to do in Niagara Falls and you are just a few minutes walk to all of it!Howard johnson cheap niagara falls hotel review

No matter what your choice of food is, you will find it very close by. There are a ton of choices right next door, or across the street. Such as:

  • Denny’s (which is right next door and open 24 hours)
  • Pizza Hut Express, KFC Express, Baskin Robins (accessible from the hotel lobby)
  • TGI Fridays
  • Outback

Then you can just walk around the corner, or a little further down the road for a whole new plethora of options!ย  We tried out the Denny’s and found it has a great variety of meal ideas, and a really good kids menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and yummy dessert too.Niagara falls dennys howard johnson hotelAt the Howard Johnson, you are just a short walk away from everything Niagara Falls has to offer:

  • Clifton Hill
  • Victoria Park (and other Niagara Parks)
  • The Skylon Tower
  • The Casino
  • Niagara Falls

While in the hotel you can enjoy the indoor/outdoor pool, the arcade, the gym, and the Pizza Hut express. Then head out to enjoy the city. 1. I remember those nights in dark hotels cause kids were asleep! This looks like a great hotel set up for families while visiting Niagara Falls!

  2. Having a centralized hotel on a trip is key to having a great time! And food locations close is so important when you have kids too! That looks like an awesome place to stay!

  3. All the times I’ve traveled down to the Falls and I never stayed at that HoJo yet! It looks great though, and love all those food options available practically on site! Thanks for sharing this trip, will have to try them next time. ๐Ÿ˜€ Also, your kids are *adorable* as always, lol!

  4. That’s on our family vacation bucket list. We’ll have to check this hotel out when we go – love how close it is.

  5. Awww, I love that sleeping picture! I’m always taking pictures of my girls sleeping when we’re in hotels. ๐Ÿ™‚ This sounds great! With three kids now, we’re also past being able to fit into a standard hotel room. It’s great to know what other options are available for us! Thanks for sharing. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. This HoJo in Niagara Falls sounds great. I love that slide at the pool! It’s also nice that there are so many food options nearby. When you travel with kids you need restaurants close by!

  7. My daughter LOVES their heart shaped tub suites. We got a King sized suite with heart shaped tub when she was about 3 years old and then had a chuckle when their was a mirror on the ceiling over the bed. We had a great time there and they have the BEST packages! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. We also love suite hotel rooms with two sleeping rooms! No more ‘trying not to wake the kid’ kind of nights!

This really does sound like a super hotel for a family with kids. Love the fact that there were two rooms, that fact alone is a huge plus point. Nice having a pool too and restaurants nearby, and a central location too.
