Reasons to stay at Hotel X Toronto with Kids – Hotel X Toronto Review
1 – Customer service
I have stayed at many hotels during my work and personal travel, and can safely say they are not all the same. The level of customer service at Hotel X is among the best I have seen anywhere in the world. The staff were not only friendly and polite, they actively offered suggestions to make our stay a little easier. For example when doorman was helping to take our bags up to our room, I asked where the bedding for the pull out couch was kept. He immediately said that he would have someone come up to make the pull out bed, and asked what time we needed it for. When we returned from our adventures at the Aurora Winter Festival the pull out couch was ready for the kids to jump into for a great nights sleep. Everyone we interacted with from the parking attendants to the wait staff at the restaurant had a focus on customer service, and making your stay enjoyable. Oh and I can’t fail to mention the cookies and milk they brought for the kids as a bedtime treat!
2 – Best Hotel for Kids in Toronto
Travelling with kids is not always the easiest thing, and it can be downright intimidating when travelling with 3 young kids. So when your family is welcomed with open arms from the moment you arrive it sets an excellent tone for your visit. We quickly learn why Hotel X is one of the best hotels for kids in Toronto. The staff at Hotel X were not only welcoming, they engaged the kids in conversation, gladly answered their endless questions and went out of their way to make sure we felt welcomed. When thinking of luxury hotels in Toronto, you may not think they would be family friendly however Hotel X smashes that stereotype out of the park by having warm and welcoming staff, a 10XTO Kid’s Play Centre with childcare, Family packages for overnight stays, and FREE activities for kids (check out the movies below!)
3 – Best Views of the Toronto Skyline
“Look at that view” was the first thing my son said when we walked into our room at Hotel X. Even at 9 years old he could appreciate the stunning views of the Toronto Skyline that Hotel X offers. The city view rooms offer an unobstructed panoramic view of the Toronto Skyline. Not only can you enjoy the view from your hotel room, like we did on the 19th floor. But you can also take it in on the roof top of the hotel too (more on that below!). Since you are right by the water you may also have a beautiful view of Lake Ontario or be able to watch airplanes take off and land from the Island airport off in the distance depending on what direction your room is facing.
4 – Location – Hotel near Exhibition Place,CNE, Downtown Toronto and more
As I mentioned at the beginning the location of Hotel X is ideal play to stay in Toronto for those wanting to stay by the waterfront near Exhibition Place or Enercare Centre. You are steps away from some of the biggest Toronto attractions including BMO Field, Budweiser Stage, Ontario Place and Exhibition Place. Don’t get stuck in traffic after enjoying a fun night at a concert at Budweiser stage or cheering on your team at BMO field.
A quick 5 minute walk will have you back in the comfort of your hotel room enjoying the great views of the city. When we stayed over at Hotel X we headed over to Ontario Place to enjoy the Aurora Winter Festival, it took about 10 minutes to walk there with the 3 kids all dressed up in their snow gear. If you need a hotel near the CNE Toronto for some summer time fun, then Hotel X is the place to be.
5 – The Suites are SWEET
Some people say all you need in a hotel room is a bed. Those people have never travelled with kids! While yes the beds are important, having space so you are not tripping over each other makes your stay much more pleasant. If you are looking for a family hotel in Toronto Hotel X offers 1, 2 and 3 bedroom suites along with a range of connecting rooms so you can get the right room for your family. The 1 bedroom suite that we stayed at was perfect for our family of 5, and Hubs and I had the best night sleep we have ever had while travelling with the kids.
We had a lovely seating area with a couch (converts to a bed), 2 chairs and a TV in the sitting area. There was also a table with 2 chairs, mini fridge, Nespresso coffee machine. The suite also had 1.5 baths, so there was no fighting between the kids over who gets to use the bathroom first. And the master bath…. Well just look at the tub it speaks for itself.
In the bedroom there was a king size bed and TV. I wish I could have stayed curled up there all day long. And if you are wondering how we fit our family of 5 into a 1 bedroom suite – Hubs and I had the bedroom, 2 kids slept on the pull out couch, and 1 kid on a portable bed that we always bring with us when we travel. And there was still tons of space in the suite.
6 – Make a Splash at Hotel X Toronto Rooftop Indoor Outdoor Pool
It might have been snowing at Hotel X when we went with the kids, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying one of the best rooftop pools in Toronto. The indoor outdoor pool at Hotel X can be used all year long. In the winter months there is an indoor area with a few lounge chairs to sit on if you don’t want to hop in the pool. The pool itself is a long rectangle with about 1/4 inside and 3/4 outside. A quick dip underneath the glass partition and you are swimming outside. The contrast between the warm heated pool and the cold outdoor air (and even some ice pellets while we were there) was a fun experience for the kids.
In the summertime the rooftop pool of Hotel X is surrounded by lounge chairs and is a popular destination for guests wanting to soak up some sun.
7 – Play, Read, Game – Kids Play Centre
Travelling with kids can be fun, but sometimes you just need a little break or the kids just need to burn off some energy. The 10XTO Kid’s Play Centre is the place you want to be! This huge play centre is staffed by trained caregivers and equipped with everything for kids of all ages to have a blast. The sports court was a hit with the boys as they played hockey and basketball. You will also find board games, books, a variety of toys, and video games to keep kids entertained. There is a fee to use the 10XTO Kid’s Play Centre, however complementary care is included in some family packages at the hotel.
You can use the service for up to 3 hours, making it perfect if you want to have a quiet meal with just the adults, enjoy some time by the pool without having to watch the kids, or head to the spa for some relaxation.
8 – Take in a Movie
Hotel X is not just a hotel, it also is home to a screening room and movie theatre. That’s right you can take in special shows, performances and movies right at the hotel. Be sure to check in with the front desk or the event calendar to see what events are taking place during your stay. They offer FREE movie screenings with your stay.
When we visited as a family we were able to watch a Christmas movie on the big screen complete with popcorn and water. It was a fun way to cap off our trip before heading home, and a great extra perk for guests. Free movies with your kids = awesome family hotel in Toronto!
9 – Unique Staycation Ideas in Toronto
Given the location and facilities that Hotel X offers they have many unique events and partnerships for your family getaway. In Dec 2019 they partnered with Second City Toronto to bring a family friendly improv show to the theater at Hotel X and tickets were complementary with your stay at the hotel.
They also offered packages in partnership with the Aurora Winter Festival. We really enjoyed our Toronto Staycation by spending an evening taking in all the Aurora Winter Festival had to offer, and then cozying up in our room at Hotel X.
Other options include Medieval Times Package, Family Fun Package, and other seasonal events. Check out the current packages and promotions available on their website.
