What you need to make your own engines:
- Boxes
- Plastic Table cloths – I found them at the dollar store in Blue, Red and Green
- A good Stapler
- Tape
- Black Permanent Marker
- Train Faces – I printed mine out by using an image I found online and making the face bigger in word and then cutting it out.
- Glue Gun
How to make your Thomas The Train Engine and Friends Ride in Toys
1 – Gather the supplies you need, we used diaper boxes and some boxes from our local LCBO. You want to make sure they are durable enough for kids to sit in and play with.
2 – Cut the top flaps of the box. Wrap the box like a present securing the table cloth with staples around the rim (make sure the staples are closed all the day so there will be no scratches). Cut away any excess table cloth and secure the edges with tape.
3 – Decorate your engine by using the glue gun to attach the face, and the markers for decorating. Add in a smoke stack and other details. Be creative!
4 – Have fun and PLAY!!!!
Here is a quick video showing how to make the Ride-In Engines
Train Party Games
I had been planning to create a railroad track around out back yard out of tape, but the weather did not cooperate to let me get it set up prior to the party. Even without the track the kids had a blast playing with the Thomas the Train engines and making all sorts of train party games out of them.
