Whoa, fall in is the air.Β After enjoying a relatively warm September, October wants to make itself known, this morning it was a chilly commute into work and I needed to dig out hats for the kids to take to daycare.Β I am hoping that this weekend will be nice one so that we can take part of one of Falls best offerings – Apple picking.Β We have several beautiful orchards close to our house that have dwarf trees that are perfect for taking the kids to as they can reach the apples without needing assistance.Β Of course once you are done apple picking comes the fun part – baking!
Apple crisp is one of my favourites – sweet, warm, easy to make and an oh so deliciousΒ . I think my new favourite “crisp” recipe is this Maple Apple Crisp Recipe.Β Don’t forget the to pick up some Cool Whip to top your warm apple crisp when it comes out of the oven.Β It is a perfect creamy partner for this classic dessert.Β This best part about making this recipe is you don’t have to make a while tray of apple crisp, cause if you are like me you might just eat the while thing.Β You can make a perfect dessert for for 2 withing worrying about what you are going to do with the leftovers.

Now don’t panic if you don’t have Maple Cookies at home, while I think they should be a staple in every household I understand that you might not have a box in your cupboard.Β That doesn’t mean you can’t make this recipe.Β Instead of using the cookies increase oats to 4 tbsp and you will still have a mouthwatering dessert.Β With Thanksgiving coming up you can triple this recipe and make it in a 9×9 pan to serve to the whole family for dessert.Β
There are so many different ways to make apple crisp you will never get bored of this classic dessert.Β Need some more inspiration? Check out the Apple Crisp recipes over at Kraft Whats Cooking for more tried and true ideas.
