Ultimate Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Don Pablo Collection Resort Review – The Hotel
Now back to the Dominican Republic…. Visiting the island of Cayo Lavantando is a journey that starts with an quick ferry ride from Samana and continues on a beautiful, small scenic island boasting many different amazing sights, experiences and more. The Luxury Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado is a fantastic place to stay while you experience the beauty and magic of Cayo Levantado Island in Samana Bay. With over 260 rooms, 3 different pools, beautiful beaches, 6 fantastic restaurants, 4 bars and a spa, you will find yourself relaxing in the lap of luxury.
My husband and I visited the Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Resort for our 10 year wedding anniversary after a coworker recommended it to us for a nice kid free vacation. To visit, you can book through a travel agent or directly through the resort website. (Prices are in USD). Transport from the airport to the ferry takes about an hour and if you book through an agency you will get on a big coach bus with lots of people. Booking directly through the site we were able to get a FREE shuttle in a very comfortable van. On our trip we had just one other couple on the shuttle and a super friendly driver.
Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Resort – The Rooms and Villas
This resort is made up of 30 villas that vary in size depending on the type of rooms in the villas and location on the island. One thing to remember is that this is a small island, so no matter what villa you are in you are going to be close to everything. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from end to end. If you are not up for walking then you can call the front desk and they will come pick you up on a golf cart. 
Superior
The Superior room comes with 1 king size canopy bed or 2 full size canopy beds with a maximum occupancy of 3 adults. These adult only rooms also boast a hydro massage bathtub and more.
Junior Suite
The beautiful Junior Suite has a maximum occupancy of 3 adults and comes with 1 king sized canopy bed or 2 full sized canopy beds. The terrace/balcony included provides spectacular views to enjoy.
Junior Suite Superior
Want some comfy bathrobes and slippers for the room, get the Junior Suite Superior with 1 king sized canopy bed or 2 full sized canopy beds.
Junior Suite Deluxe
Relax in style on your very own terrace with an outdoor hydro massage bathtub, or catch some sleep in your beautiful king sized canopy bed. The possibilities are endless.
Beach Villa
Enjoy a beautiful terrace with beach access in your own private beach villa. Get a restful sleep in your cozy king sized canopy bed or spend the evening relaxing in your hydro massage bathtub. For our stay we were in a Beach Villa and loved it. There are only a few of these rooms available in Villas #30 and #31. You are steps away from the beach, have a large room with a spacious sitting area inside, and large terrace as well. On the terrace you have a Jacuzzi tub that you can enjoy while taking in the views of the ocean.
Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Resort – The Pools
Framed by tall palm trees and a spectacular view of the beautiful Caribbean sea, the Honda Beach pool makes for a great place to relax. Either of the three pools at the Luxury Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado make for a beautiful, luxurious and fantastic time. Thirsty? No problem, you can swim up to an all-inclusive pool bar and quench that thirst with a refreshing drink or order a drink from the staff while relaxing in your lounge chair.
Whether you are hanging in the shade of the tropical gardens with your beach umbrella and recliner, soaking up some sun relaxing on the poolside terrace, or swinging in a hammock under the palms you won’t have to move a muscle to order fresh towels or a drink from the hammock service.
Since it is an adults only resort the pools were relaxing places to spend a lazy afternoon without the worry of getting splashed. Some people had inflatable rafts to float around in the pool while reading a book. They do off AquaGym classes which is water resistant aerobics class that you can take part in, if that is something you are looking for.
If you are interested in Scuba diving you can test out some scuba equipment in the pool to assess your underwater skills.
No matter what pool experience you are looking for, chances are you will find it at the Luxury Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Resort.
Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Resort – The Restaurants
Good food can make or break a vacation, well you won;t be disappointed at the Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Resort. With 2 more casual restaurants and 4 fine dining restaurants you will have more then enough options for your stay. Bookings for the a la carte restaurants are by reservations only. I suggest booking on your first day. If you don’t get the reservations you were hoping for, don’t worry put your name on a waiting list as you will likely get in. We let our butler know that we wanted to try each of the a la cart restaurants and we were able to by the end of our 1 week stay. As much as I enjoyed the a la carte restaurants, don’t think that the buffet is a step down. On our last day we cancelled our reservation and went to the buffet instead because it was so good.
Orquidea Restaurant
If you’re looking for an international culinary journey, look no further than Orquidea buffet. This restaurant is located in the main building of the resort and offers a different themed dinner every night. You will be greeted with a custom cocktail on arrival and treated to a delicious dinner with great appetizers, main dishes and desserts. Don’t forget to stop by the chocolate fountain as well, you won’t be disappointed. The Orquidea Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and you can choose to eat inside or outside on the terrace.
Beach Restaurant
Located steps from the beach and the pool you can enjoy a meal at the Beach Restaurant. Featuring international cuisine you can dine with a view of the ocean that is like no other. A casual buffet that is perfect for a nice lunch
Don Pablo Gourmet Restaurant
Don Pablo Gourmet Restaurant was my favourite a la carte restaurant at Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Resort. A great atmosphere for a romantic candlelit dinner comprised of the finest gourmet creations. If it’s a romantic night out you seek, this gourmet experience is a must.
Mediterraneo Restaurant
If you are a fan of seafood then this is one a la carte restaurant that you will be sure you want to make a reservation for. The Beach Restaurant by day transforms into a candle lit ocean-side paradise at night. This Mediterranean restaurant features dishes inspired by Italy, Spain and Greece with this delicious Mediterranean restaurant.
Portofino Italian Restaurant
If Italian cuisine is what you crave, you will want to visit the Portifino Italian Restaurant. With many different Italian dishes to chose from, you will be enjoying traditional Italian flavours in an amazing setting.
Rodizio Restaurant
If you have not tried a Brazilian grill before you will be in for a treat at Rodizio Restaurant. Sit on the restaurants gorgeous covered terrace and enjoy a selection of 13 different perfectly cooked meat options. The delicious grilled meats are cooked on skewers are brought directly to your table and carved fresh onto your plate. There are tasty sides to go with your meat and you will be able to have seconds (or thirds) until you are full. If you like Brazilian grill served table side, this is where you want to be.

Beaches Resort Turks And Caicos
Hi!! We’re thinking about going to this hotel for our babymoon, but as I’m pregnant, I’d like to know about the ferry ride. My dr told me I shouldn’t get on small boats where the waves might hit hard, but if it’s big (about 70-100 passengers), then it would be fine. I just don’t want to take unnecessary risks… Do you remember the kind of boat they use (capacity or so) to get to and from the island??

The boat holds 20-30 people. It is not a “big boat”, but the ride is short about 5 minutes. The other thing to know is that where you depart from is “protected” by the island you are going to and the water is not as deep, so the waves would not be as big as if you were out on the open ocean to go whale watching. It was rainy the day we arrived, but it was a smooth ride over.
