The Beach

The soft white sand beach at the Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort was the first thing we headed for when we arrived at the resort.  You won’t be disappointed by the beautiful ocean side views offered in this little piece of paradise on Grace Bay, Turks and Caicos.  Spend the day sunbathing, building sandcastles, or swimming in the ocean all while being a short walk away from your Resort Room.  There is a boardwalk that runs the length of the resort along the edge of the beach so you can stroll along as you walk to dinner or back to your room.  There are many areas to stop and sit and enjoy the scenery or relax and read a book.

Water activities

There are a wide variety of water activities included in your stay at the Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort.  Stop by the water activities hut to get the complete schedule and to sign up for activities. You have access to kayaks, paddle boards,  and aqua trikes (weather permitting).  If you enjoy sailing you can also take a sailboat out on the water to explore beautiful Grace Bay.  If you do not know how to sail, a guide will take you out so you can still get the same amazing experience.  There are several snorkeling trips that run daily and also scuba diving trips that are available to those with certification.  Scuba certification is available at the resort (additional cost) if you would like to get certifies.  If you would like to get out on the water but not in the water the glass bottom boat tour is for you!  Check out our video to see how much fun we had and all the different creatures that we saw on this tour.  There is never a lack of things to do when you are beach side at Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort.

Pirates Island Waterpark

As much as we love spending time at the beach and in the ocean it was fun to head to the waterpark to enjoy some of the slides and lazy river.  With slides and a large Splash Pad area the water park is a must-visit destination for families of all ages.  Older kids can enjoy surf simulator, while toddlers play around in the splash pad.  My mom loved floating around in the 650-foot lazy river, because really is there a better way to relax on a hot day?  The tube water slides where my favorite part of the water park.   There is something for everyone at the waterpark and it offers a great alternative for those who may not be comfortable swimming in the ocean.

Sesame Street
While walking around the Beaches Resort don’t be surprised to run into some old friends including Elmo, Grover, and Cookie Monster.  You can take in a Sesame Street show every night at the resort.  There are also tons of daily activities with all of your favorite Sesame Street characters including baking cookies with cookie monster, story time with Elmo, dancing with Zoe, and Super Grover’s Science Fair.  Your daily listing of activities that is delivered right to your room, and will let you know what activities are going on and where they are happening on the Resort.  The Sesame Street activities are not just for toddlers and preschoolers. There is also a Character Breakfast that is available for an additional cost.  With this breakfast you get to enjoy a delicious meal while all of your favourite Sesame Street friends come and visit your table, and then cap it all off with a dance party.  Kids of all ages we’re enjoying the fun activities that were offered and who doesn’t feel like a kid when getting a hug from Cookie Monster.  I think my mom was more excited then Monkey to meet Burt & Ernie 🙂

Restaurants

The food at the Beaches Resort Turks and Caicos resort was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.  With 19 restaurants available the hardest part will be deciding where to have your next meal.  May I suggest starting your day off at Cafe de Paris.  With a wide variety of hot and cold beverage options your caffeine fix is sure to be satisfied.  Personally I loved the frozen mocha and have even had dreams about it now that I am back home.  You will find a good variety of buffet and a la carte restaurants available at the resort.  No matter which Village you are staying at you have access to all of the restaurants.  The huge selection of restaurants means you can find something to suit everyone’s taste buds including an English pub, Tex-Mex, French, Italian, Indian, Seafood, and Caribbean restaurants.  There is only one restaurant that takes reservations (Kinonos – Japanese Cuisine) all of the rest are first-come first-serve.  I love that setup, we never had to rush to a reservation if we were having fun at the beach, and did not need to choose where/when we were having our meals on our first day of arrival.  I also appreciated the flexibility when traveling with children as you we’re not locked into a specific meal time.

Camps

The beaches Turks and Caicos Resort is one place where I feel like a family vacation is actually a vacation for the parents as well.  There are many great activities to take part in together as a family.  However there are also camps that the kids can go to (divided up by age group) that offer a wide range of engaging activities.  These camps are all included in your stay at the resort and you can drop off your child for an hour or for the whole day it is completely up to you.  Watching the kids play at the camps you could see that they were having a great time and for parents taht means you are able to have some relaxing time on your vacation without the kids and not feel guilty about it!  A trip to the spa anyone???  And don’t worry about your child missing out on anything while at camp they will NOT be bored.  Each day there are different sets of activities which are adapted to each age group which includes dance parties, science experiments, time at the water, sports and more.  Snacks and lunch are taken care of, so you don’t need to worry about that.  For the younger kids they have their own outdoor play area and mini swimming pool, and while the older kids head to the beach or water park.  The sesame characters even come to visit the campers and take part if fun activities like story time.  If you want to have a nice dinner without the kids there are movie nights and PJ parties in the evening hours as well.

The resort

The beaches Turks and Caicos Resort is divided up into 4 villages Key West Village, Italian Village, French Village, and the Caribbean Village.  However no matter which Village you are staying in you have access to all of the amenities at the entire Resort.  Each Village has its own feel but I would be hard-pressed to pick a favorite as they all looked lovely and all offered great restaurants and pools.  Walking from one end of the resort to the other only takes 10-15 minutes, so you are never far from anything no matter where you are staying.  The resort grounds were clean and tidy, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.  There are 2 spas and exercise areas if you are so inclined. Getting to the Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort

Getting to the Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort was a breeze.  If you are flying from Toronto there are direct flights all year long, with a flight time of about 4 hours.  If you can’t get a direct flight, many fly into Miami and then you have a short 1.5 hour flight from Miami to Providenciales, Turks and Caicos.  Flying over the stunning waters around Turks and Caicos is one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen.  Check out our video of our flight below and you will quickly see what I mean.  When we arrived at the airport we were greeted by a friendly Beaches Resort employee who offered us a cold bottle of water and got us quickly on our transport shuttle to the hotel.  Getting to the resort from the airport only took about 15 minutes, so you are not wasting time  driving to your resort and can get to the beach even faster.

Overall Impression of Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort

Our trip to Beaches was one to remember, and I can’t wait to take our family back again in the future.  The friendly staff and impressive resort has set the bar high for our future family vacations.  I can’t imagine a resort that is more family friendly and has activities for everyone from toddlers to grandparents.  When first looking at the price of a beaches vacation many people have a little bit of sticker shock.  However it is important to remember all of the things that are included in that cost – including your transfer from the airport, kids camps, water sports, snorkeling, scuba diving, meals, beverages and more.  There is also a no tipping policy at the resort (they don’t even have an ATM on site) and both my mom and I commented on the fact that you are not pushed to buy any additional “add ons” while at the resort.  I liked the piece of mind that there are no hidden costs once you show up at the resort.  I loved my vacation with Monkey and my Mom at the Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort.  Our stay was so great that Hubs and I are planning a trip for our 10 year anniversary and are checking out the sister company to Beaches for adults only, Sandals, for that vacation.  If you are looking for a luxury resort that the whole family will enjoy, look no further then Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages.
