Schools out for summer! Wow the past school year went by fast, but I am looking forward to a summer filled with fun adventures and play dates with friends. I like to have some quick recipes for those impromptu gatherings when the kids are playing nicely and the adults can enjoy a few minutes to sit and chat on a nice summer day. I know I will be whipping up this easy 4 ingredient homemade salsa this summer.
I grow chives in my garden so those are always on hand. We will be trying to grow our own tomatoes for the first time this year. Hopefully by the end of the summer I will not only be able to whip up homemade salsa in under 10 minutes, but it will be with ingredients from my own garden too.
This recipe is a variation of the Fresh Tomato Salsa from Kraft Canada. If you like a little heat to your salsa add in a chopped jalapeno pepper, or if you have cilantro in your garden you could use that instead of the chives.
Whatever you choose you will have fresh tasty salsa in minutes. I was a little worried about it being “tangy” since it is made with Italian dressing, but there was no need for concern. The pairing of the Kraft Italian dressing with tomatoes, onions and chives creates a perfect savoury salsa that both the kids and I loved. Here is what you need to make this easy homemade salsa recipe:

So who else is having a Canada Day get together? This salsa would be a perfect to snack on while everyone is enjoying the festivities. Plan a tasty Canada Day BBQ with more Canada Day recipes and ideas from Kraft Canada.

Yumm love Homemade salsa never thought about the Italian dressing! Great idea
Me neither until I saw this recipe, but it is so good!
This salsa looks amazingly fresh and tasty! I’d prefer chives instead of cilantro any day!
Hubs is not a fan of cilantro either, so chives is a good compromise for us.
I didn’t know you could make salsa so easily! I’m definitely going to try this recipe — thanks for sharing!
So simple and quick, yet so delicious!

This looks so incredibly easy to make. Looks perfect for enjoying with some chips on a hot summer day 🙂
A perfect idea!
Oh yum! Sounds like it would have really wonderful flavour. Can’t wait to try it!
I”m totally regretting not doing this for this past Canada Day. It would have been perfect. Luckily, we also celebrate independence day, so we will be breaking this out for tomorrow!
I hope you had a great independence day as well!
I would sub the cilantro because I love cilantro. This is an interesting recipe. I never would have thought of the Italian dressing for this. Sounds yummy.
I like cliantro too, Hubs is not a big fan. You should give this one a try, I bet your girls would like it
We love salsa and chips! I love that this recipe is easy to do and there are only 4 ingredients. Definitely trying this.
SO easy and yet it looks so delicious! We love salsa and I can’t believe how simple it is to make your own. I’m definitely going to be trying this out.
Mmmm…salsa! Red onions make everything taste better too. I also love coriander.
I don’t usually like salsa but this one sounds ideal for me, not spicy which is the main thing for me 🙂
