There are some smells and tastes that are so intertwined with your memories that the moment your senses are touched it is like being transported back in time. My family on my Dad’s side is from Quebec and although they moved to the Toronto area when he was very young, they brought some of the Quebecois traditions with them including making homemade tourtière. A tradition for our family every Christmas eve, this traditional meat pie is a hearty and delicious meal. As much as I love tourtière I only make it a couple of times a year. But with this twist on a family favourite I can enjoy this Quebec-inspired dip with cocktail meatballs anytime.
Quatre-épices Ketchup uses the traditional Quebecois seasoning combination that makes me thinking of the many laughs our family has had around the table while enjoying tourtière. However, this dip only takes a couple of minutes to prepare and is the perfect partner for cocktail meatballs.
Sure ketchup is standard on hamburgers and hot dogs, but you can do a LOT more with this condiment to help spice up other dishes. Make sure you stock up on Great Value Ketchup, which is available at your local Walmart because you will go through a lot of it with BBQ season just around the corner.
Quatre-épices Ketchup is a sweet and savoury dip that is perfect meatballs, meat pies or roasted chicken.
