The key to successful mornings at our house is being able to grab a quick and tasty breakfast that everyone enjoys. For us that usually means homemade muffins or Banana Bread that I make in large batches on the weekends and then freeze to eat over the next few weeks. I love my sleep and will hit the snooze button until the very last second, leaving me exactly 10 minutes to make, eat and tidy up after my breakfast. Having something prepared ahead of time takes a lot of stress out of our morning routine. And since I am up and gone before Hubs and the boys get out of bed I know he appreciates being able to serve up a quick breakfast of a slice of banana bread and a side of fruit. This month we decided to test out 2 new Banana Bread Recipes from Kraft Canada: Banana-Bran Bread and Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe.
Banana Bread Recipes
It doesn’t take long to make Banana Bread, and it is a great choice to get the kids involved in the kitchen – banana mashing is a perfect job for little ones. I was interested to try the Banana-Bran Bread is it incorporates a Bran cereal into the bread. Would the kids like it? Would the cereal still be crunchy? I used an All-Bran cereal that had cranberries in it and was impressed by the flavours of the Banana-Bran Bread. The cereal blends in perfectly to the bread, not crunchy at all, and the cranberries offered a sweet surprise.I have to say that the “Favorite” Banana Bread Recipe really lived up to its name. This Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe is so moist even after freezing, I know I will be making it again. I made a few little adjustments to the recipe to use some whole wheat flour, opted out of the nuts and added in some chocolate chips. Here is what we created:

I make banana bread quite regularly, and I think I would like the cereal mixed into the recipe. The cranberries would be a bonus!
What a great recipe (minus all the gluten! ha ha) I love the addition of the cereal. It really adds nutrients to the bread!
My kids would love to do that. The banana mashing business is a perfect sensory activity.
This recipe looks great! All healthy ingredients to get the day started. I’m always looking for things that I can send in the kids’ lunches that don’t have nuts.
We LOVE Banana bread, it’s such a great way to use up mushy bananas. My recipe is pretty basic though, this one looks super delicious! Kraft always has such great recipes, I love trying them out!
That recipe looks so hearty and filling! I love banana bread and never thought of using All Bran in it before. I’ll have to give it shot next time.
I had no idea banana bread had it’s own day!! I’ll be sure to mark it on the calendar so I don’t miss it next year! I love banana bread!! Mmmm. Your LO looks so cute helping you bake!
This looks and sounds LOVELY! Especially the sleeping in part :). What a great idea to freeze it over the weekend. I have never used All Bran for my banana bread – I would have totally thought it would be crunchy. But it sounds like it would taste amazing! I will be sure to try your recipe out the next time we’re in the mood for banana bread. Um… that would be right about now 🙂
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love banana bread! This looks like a great recipe, I’ll have to try it!
