I have been asked several times before why I am a CAA Member, as when I bought my car in 2010 it came with a roadside assistance plan. A friend made a comment to me that I could get rid of my CAA membership now, ummm… No Way! Not only does CAA Roadside Assistance cover me no matter what vehicle I am in, there are so many other benefits to being a CAA Member it literally pays for itself!
Having an emergency kit in your car is a great idea, but what about roadside assistance? Doesn’t matter if you need a tow, ran out of gas, or if you locked your keys in the car… one call to CAA and you will have the help you need in no time.
A CAA membership offers the peace of mind that no matter where you go you are covered. That’s right your membership covers YOU, not your car. So no matter what vehicle you are in, driving with a friend or maybe in a rental while on vacation your CAA coverage comes with you.
CAA offers a range of membership options to fit your needs. In our household a basic membership is all I need, while Hubs has a Plus membership since his commute to work is longer and if he needed a tow we would need the extra km. You can see a comparison of the membership levels here:
Each membership not only comes with CAA Roadside Assistance, but also a whole host of other benefits including savings and discounts at retailers and attractions in Canada and the USA. Travel planning has never been easier with access to maps and tour books from CAA. And my favourite travel planning resource exclusive to CAA: the TripTik® route planner which not only gives you turn by turn directions to your destination, but also notes detours & construction, rest stops, and hospitals among other things.
A CAA membership is a must have for any driver – roadside assistance is just a phone call away, also show your CAA card for extra saving at many retailers and attractions. Don’t forget the great savings you can get when you head out to a Cineplex Movie!
CAA Membership Benefits:
Don’t believe me that having a CAA membership pays for itself? Let’s take a look at some of the activities and shopping I have done/will be doing this summer with CAA Partners, and the CAA savings and CAA Dollars® to be had:
- Trip to the Toronto Zoo – Save 10% on regular priced admission when you show your CAA at the gate – Savings for a family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids) with CAA = $9.20
- Getting wild at African Lion Safari – Save 10% on regular priced admission when you show your CAA at the gate – Savings for a family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids) with CAA = $11.78

The grand total…. $59.21 saved with my CAA Membership and $11.96 CAA Dollars earned!!! A basic CAA membership only costs $70 and in less than 3 months I will have saved money and earned CAA Dollars to more than cover the cost of the membership! And that total does not even take into account the bonus Petro-points From Petro Canada and other fuel savings at Husky. With so many great partners there are ways for everyone to save with CAA!
The value a CAA membership offers is enormous – All of those savings are on things we were doing/buying anyway, and that doesn’t even take in to consideration the peace of mind and the support you will get if you ever do need Roadside Assistance. CAA is so much more than just a tow truck to help you with a flat tire! Take a moment to check out all the benefits of having a CAA membership and the huge list of CAA partners that offer savings and discounts for every part of your life and sign up today!

Oh wow! So many great benefits. I would surely sign up and become a member if we get to have our own car soon.
We gave up our CAA membership because we have roadside assistance through Ford but it might be worth signing back up just for the discounts and rewards.

I love my CAA membership – it’s a gift I get from my in-laws for Christmas every year. With two kids, it would be terrible to be stranded without help, plus all the extra perks for local businesses and traveling are awesome!
