Family Day is about celebrating the importance of families, so make sure you plan to spend time with those you love the most – FAMILY! Check out the variety of Things to do on Family Day Weekend in Brampton, Mississauga, Georgetown and Caledon. Don’t let the cold weather deter you from having a blast of a weekend, we have created a list with activities indoors and outside depending on your preference and current weather conditions. From Family Festivals to Outdoor Activities, there is an activity to keep every unique family busy and entertained. Looking to make memories and for Things to do this Family Day Long Weekend 2020 – it is the first long weekend since Christmas break so make the most of it with one of these local events or family day activities. It is important to remember that families come in all shapes and sizes, but the most important thing about family is love and spending time together. Begin to teach children about family at a young age and why it is important to make time to connect as a family unit. 

Things to do on Family Day in Brampton


MONDAY FEB 17TH| 10 a.m. – 4:00PM
Spend a fun-filled day at PAMA with FREE activities and events inspired by our winter exhibitions.

  • Join Mark Sepic in performances of his Junkestra using all recycled and repurposed items as instruments. Performances at 11 a.m., 12:30 and 2 p.m.  Space is limited for each show and spots are available on a first come-first-serve basis for each performance
  • Add your mark to our large interactive digital graffiti wall
  • Create with colour and bring Coco and Wellington to life in our colouring room
  • Give new life to bottle caps and make your own musical recycled art instruments
  • Celebrate your family and your own history by creating a fingerprint family tree

Come out for skating, cookie decorating, an inflatable obstacle course, and face painting! Bring your skates to enjoy the outdoor rink!

5. Gage Park

Monday Feb 17TH, 2020 1-3PM

Family Day Event | All Ages | Free, unless otherwise indicated

Come out for skating*, cookie decorating, interactive ice sculptures, and a fire pit with marshmallow roasting!
*Skate rentals will be available.

6. Ching Wellness – Parent and Child Carnival

MONDAY Feb 17TH – 10:00-11:30AM, 1:00-2:30PM

Parent and child will enjoy a fun filled day of carnival theme games and activities. Participants will have an opportunity to play parachute games, try their luck at bean bag tossing, crafts and more. Registration required – $11.50

Active parent/guardian participation is required. Only 1 parent/guardian is included per child who is registered. 

7. Painting Fun

MONDAY Feb 17th – Earnscliffe 3-5PM, Ching Park 5-7PM

Participants will learn the fundamentals of painting through step-by-step instruction. Each person will leave with a beautiful masterpiece. Families are encouraged to bring nut free snacks and beverages to enjoy throughout the program.

Please note all participants must register separately for this program; both parent(s)/guardian(s) and child(ren) must register individually. Cost – $15 Youth

​Discover the wonders of winter wildlife! Join us to track and identify signs of local animals, and learn some of their secrets for surviving chilly winter temperatures. Try out snowshoeing and leave behind tracks of your own! Snowshoes will be provided. In the event of a snow-free day, join us for a winter walk through the woods.

Choose from two different time slots: 10am to 12pm OR 1:30pm to 3:30pm

This event will take place rain or shine. Please dress for the weather, including layered clothing and winter boots. You will be notified if the hike needs to be cancelled due to extreme weather.

This event is public transit accessible:
3 minute walk from bus stop Bramalea Rd at Goodwood Rd (route 15 Brampton Transit).
15 minute walk from Bramalea Terminal.

10. Brampton Beast Vs Kalamazoo Wings: FAMILY DAY GAME – CAA Centre

Kidsfest Mississauga


Event Times – FEB 15,16,17 10AM-6PM

Kids Fest Toronto takes place indoors at the International Centre in Mississauga over Family Day weekend. You and your family can enjoy live entertainment, inflatables, carnival games, interactive attractions and so much more. Food and drinks available for purchase at the event and parking is free. 

Kids Fest Mississauga features the largest indoor inflatable road show for kids with over 30 inflatable rides and attractions!

Kids Fest Toronto has more than thirty themed inflatables blown-up and ready for action inside 80,000 square feet at The International Centre, Hall 6 in Mississauga. Children can slide, ride and bounce all day. They range from large slides to toddler appropriate rides. On top of the fabulous inflatables, Kids Fest Toronto offers shows, interactive activities, games, crafts and more.

2. LIVING ARTS CENTRE ->Power Up the Winter

This upcoming Family Day, we want you to show us your real-life superpowers! Who are the heroes in your family and what makes them SUPER? The Living Arts Centre will once again be buzzing with FREE family-friendly programming, including make-and-take crafts, performances, and much, much more!


Dog Man: The Musical | 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM | Hammerson Hall

Don’t miss this hilarious new production based on the worldwide bestselling series by Dav Pilkey, the creator of Captain Underpants! Frog In Hand is a local dance-theatre company whose mission is to uncover, make, and share stories through dance. Their unique and interactive performances always have crowds on their feet!
  • Annual Family Talent Show | 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM
    Does TALENT run in your family? Perhaps you choreographed the perfect father-daughter dance, or you and your grandmother play a lively cello duet – whatever it is your family can do, the Living Arts Centre wants to see you! Here is your chance to showcase your talents on the big stage in this family-friendly competition set to take place in our Hammerson Hall theatre! Fill in the form below to enter! Can’t afford the ridiculous prices of hockey in Toronto, then come support your local Mississauga Steelheads as a family and enjoy a game of hockey. Mississauga Steelheads will be taking on  Erie Otters  in OHL Hockey at 2PM.

4. MAC AND CHEESE FESTIVAL – Small Arms Inspection Building

Feb 14th – Feb 16th (Friday 5-11PM, Saturday 11AM-11PM, Sunday 11AM-11PM)

North America’s largest Mac and Cheese Festival returns and is coming in hot to bring you a massive Valentine’s weekend festival from February 14-16, 2020. In just one month, the Small Arms Inspection Building is going to be overrun with mac and cheese lovers.

The Mac and Cheese Festival brings together the most skilled mac bosses under one roof to prepare signature dishes and present their ooey-gooey cheesy menus directly to you – along with plenty of wine, cocktails, margaritas and craft beer. There will be 40+ over-the-top mac and cheese creations for Valentine’s weekend!

Beyond stuffing your face with mac and cheese, enjoy playing racing simulators, giant Jenga, a wide array of board games (e.g. What Do You Meme, Blokus, Bad People, Telestrations After Dark, Pit Card Game etc) and retro games on Nintendo Classic, Super Nintendo and Playstation Classic.

Join us and discover new flavours with the return of The Craft Beer Bar. Taste locally made beers and ciders from across Ontario. 5. Family Day  Skate

MONDAY FEB 17TH – Times: 12:00PM – 4:00PM

Who doesn’t love a snow day? This Family Day, kids of all ages can enjoy the magic of a snow day at the Square. Lace up your skates and hit the rink, or snap some family photos in our selfie stations. Build the fort of your dreams at our fort building station, or play some games – big and small – at our indoor board game cafe, or outdoor game garden.

Need a break from all the fun? Grab a bite at one of the food trucks that will be onsite dishing up tasty treats.

There’s lots of wonder to be discovered at Celebration Square this Family Day.

6. Family Day Activities – Mississauga Recreation

Enjoy and Explore all that the City of Mississauga Parks and Recreation has to offer! This FREE event offers: A showcase of city services: Mississauga Fire, MiWay, Recreation, Economic Development, Volunteer and Library Services. Activities include: shiny, family ball hockey, skating, badminton, swimming, and family sports. Activities vary depending on location, check for full listing and schedule of events here.

Terra Cotta Moonlight Skate

SATURDAY, February 15th, 2020 – 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Terra Cotta Conservation Area, Halton Hills (View Map)

Regular park admission fees apply; members get in for FREE

Enjoy an evening skating, skiing or snowshoeing under the starts at Terra Cotta Conservation Area. Glide across a torch-lit Wolf Lake or follow the moonlight trails, while embracing Ontario’s winter wonderland at night. Snowshoes and skis are available for rent from the Visitors Welcome Centre or bring your own. Skate rentals are not available.

Afterwards, warm up by a campfire with a hot beverage. Don’t forget your headlamp!

Family Fun Day at Island Lake

Monday, February 17, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Join us for family fun in the great outdoors! Enjoy a variety of outdoor activities with the whole family at Island Lake Conservation Area.

Activities include:

  • Learn to ice fish – free ice fishing demonstrations and tips
  • Bring your skates and glide around the skating rink or trail
  • Try out snowshoes and fat tire bikes
  • Explore the trails
  • Try Crokicurl
  • Roast a hot dog or try a s’more*

Don’t forget to register for our fishing derby.  Family Day is the last day to reel in a big one!
